Recently our President Sander van Amelsvoort was asked to speak at an event of the Committee for Geelong about which lessons Geelong can take away from Eindhoven's way of dealing with its job crisis after Philips decided to move its headquarters to Amsterdam and outsource production to China.
Eindhoven is now the leader of research and development in The Netherlands and the region is know as 'Brainport'. The challenges Eindhoven had in the '90s have similarities with those which Geelong is facing. Eindhoven, like Geelong, is a classic example of the opportunities that can arise in the face of economic turmoil.
